Coombe Lodge is a very stunning country home that has become one of the most popular wedding venues in the whole of Bristol. The property is eye-catching thanks to the Bath stone it is constructed from and the work of renowned architect Sir. George Oatley in designing it.

The home was built between 1928 and 1932, replacing an older property that stood on the site and dated back to 1759. Incredibly it stands on the same foundations, showcasing just how good the original work was. The property is E shaped in the Jacobean style of architecture. It retains some stunning features, including the stone walls, Cotswold stone roof, and distinctive panelling on the ground floor made from beautiful limed oak.

The stunning property has a fantastic history. It was originally the home of the Wills family. They were renowned as the owners of W.D & H.O. Wills Tobacco Company, a British importer and manufacturer that operated from 1786 until 1988 when it became part of Imperial Tobacco. Coombe Lodge is a mark of how successful the business was.

Ultimately the property was transformed from a family home into a contemporary venue for weddings and other functions. The work was done with great care, modernising but retaining the history and charming characteristics.

Denon Construction was proud to play a role in retaining the property more recently. Due to the age of the structure, work was needed to retain and refurbish one of the walls. We were selected to help due to our extensive knowledge and experience at working on projects where great care is needed to retain the surface.
