In 2014 The Alexander Court Care Home on Cornwall Road, Harrogate was closed following a string of problems and the removal of their nursing registration. This resulted in residents being relocated. The property was ultimately purchased by Hadrian Healthcare, a family run company with an outstanding track record for providing care for elderly residents.
Hadrian Healthcare recently adapted their market strategy, selling five care homes and two sites for development to BUPA for £50 million in 2016. They will now focus on high-end, five star residential care with their Manor House homes. The Cornwall Road site will become the latest one of these, featuring 85 bedrooms/suites and a separate area specifically for dementia sufferers.
The whole site will be transformed by the new development. Residents will be able to take advantage of a beauty salon, wellness cottage, hydrotherapy pool, restaurant, tea room, and a retail area with a traditional sweet shop.
The Manor House, Harrogate is expected to open in spring 2018. There will be around 100 jobs on offer when it opens, ranging from nurses and carers to drivers and staff for the specific facilities.
